The budget hearings will be held for every organization on-campus to determine the appropriate allotment of money for the next fall semester.

“The budget hearings are really important because if an organization does not attend, they do not get any money,” said Public Relations Director Elizabeth Kolakowski.

The hearing budget dates are set for April 9, from 2-7 p.m., as well as April 10-11 from 9:40 a.m.-4 p.m.

“The main reason for these funding meetings is simple,” said Chief Financial Officer Jon Vogel. “The SGA budget hearings are the only opportunity for student clubs and organizations to come before a diverse campus panel to request funding for the next fiscal year.”

The diverse campus panel at these meetings is made up of students and administration alike.

In order for clubs to be ready for these meetings, members should be organized with a formalized budget and a request form, as well as specific reasons for requesting the student funds.
Senate meeting on Feb. 22, the SGA proposed to change their constitution. The proposal included changing the GPA requirement for all executive board members to 2.75 and a 2.5 for all Senate members.

The proposal was then approved by a majority of the Senate.

“I think it was really important to establish a definite GPA Standard.” said Sarah Donofrio, a senior advertising major. “Before, students who were interested in positions had to jump through all kinds of hoops just to figure out if they were even qualified by campus standards.”

Executive Board positions now open

The SGA is now available for students to send in their résumés for the executive board positions. All positions are now available.

To view a list of positions, visit rowan.edu/clubs/sga and click on the constitution tab.

“If one is interested in policy making and legislation, then SGA is perfect,” Kolakowski said. “It is involved with all facets of the university, including the Board of Trustees, student affairs, facilities and curriculum.”

To apply, students must have a letter of intent and résumé. The letter should include what position the student is applying for and why they would be the best candidate.

A hard copy or electronic copy can be sent to the attention of Vice Commissioner Noah Weinstein. Application packets can be delivered to the SGA suite on the first floor of the Student Center or sent to weinst96@students.rowan.edu. Packets are due by March 26.
<div
