Glassboro Police arrests High Street resident on marijuana-related charges

The Glassboro Police Special Investigations Unit apprehended Matthew L. Torres, 20, of East High Street, at approximately at 9 a.m. on April 17 after he allegedly sold marijuana to an undercover police officer, according to a Glassboro Police press release.

Torres was allegedly distributing marijuana from a Park Crest Village Apartment unit located off of East High Street where police concluded their three-week long investigation. The effort included multiple law enforcement agencies including Glassboro, Rowan, West Deptford, Deptford and Washington Township police departments.

Torres was charged with possession of 50 grams or more of marijuana, possession of marijuana in a school, distribution to a law enforcement officer, distribution within 1000 feet of a school, distribution within 500 feet of a public park and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the press release.

The suspect was taken into custody after leaving his residence, where police found him to be in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest. Search warrants were granted on his vehicle and residence where four ounces of weed, hashish oil, packaging material, a vacuum sealer, a scale and other items were confiscated, according to the press release.

Municipal Court Judge J.R. Powell set bail at $50,000 for Torres.
