Spring break is only two weeks away. With the change from snowstorms to spring break, your wardrobe may be a little confused. Depending on where you are going, you may have to do a little digging in your closet to make the transition. Even if you are staying close to home, these wardrobe transition tips will have put you on your way to a warmer-weather wardrobe.

The Beach Bum

Warm weather and green leaves are about to appear faster than you think, even if it doesn’t feel that way. Now is the perfect time to go swim and beachwear shopping, rather than mid-season when prices are high and stock is in demand. If a warm, sandy beach is your destination, it’s time to add a few key pieces to your travel itinerary. Bathing suits are essential when going somewhere warm, but they can be pricey. Luckily, stores like Target have a wide array of stylish suits for under $40. One of my picks is the Xhilaration® Junior’s 2-Piece Swimsuit in pink, which retails for only $30 and is perfect for water sports, as there are no ties that will come undone. Cover-ups can be just as expensive as a bathing suit, so I suggest spending a bit more on a cover-up that you can also transform into an outfit for going out at night. The Asos Keyhole Back Maxi Dress for $33.85 is perfect to wear on the beach with sandals or you can dress it up for a night out with a pair of wedges and a statement necklace. A beach bag is also essential. Target has some great options for $10 and up. Victoria’s Secret PINK’s flip-flops, $14.50 and up, come with a clear bag that is great for holding your phone and sunglasses.

The Adventurer

Going to a music festival or sight-seeing? Even if you plan on going to a cool local place, there’s no better time than spring break to bust out some high-waisted shorts. My favorite, tried and true shorts for years have been American Eagle’s Hi-Rise Festival Shortie, $44.95. For shorts that will be more comfortable at school, I suggest the AE Midi Shorts which are $39.95 and up. American Eagle usually has coupon codes, so look out for those before purchasing.

The Crochet Wearer

The perfect spring break design is crochet, and not the kind your grandma knits. Crochet tops are airy, which makes them easy to transform if the weather is warm during the day and chilly at night. Forever 21’s Dainty Crochet Top, $14.80, can easily transform with an army or denim jacket over it if the weather gets cooler. A dress option is the Sweet Side Lace Crochet Dress $22.80. If you’re going to a music festival or somewhere outdoors, your footwear is important. You don’t want dirty feet all day. I suggest wearing a cute pair of sneakers such as American Eagle’s AEO Crocheted or Printed Hi-Top Sneakers which range from $29.99 to $39.95. A good sandal option is the Black Poppy Strappy Open Toe Lace Up Sandals, $29.95, from PacSun, as they are almost fully enclosed.

Whether your break is filled with relaxation or adventure, there’s a new wardrobe to be pulled out for the upcoming warm weather we’ve all been waiting for.
