SGA coordinates Rowan Relief to benefit Haiti
In the wake of disaster in Haiti, the Student Government Association (SGA) created a relief initiative called “Rowan Relief.”
The SGA hopes to involve the student body in a campus wide fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to the American Red Cross. Fundraising efforts will include selling white bracelets, which can be bought in the student center for a donation of $1 or more.
Chief Financial Officer for SGA J.J. Vogel said that the “Rowan Relief” initiative was created in hopes of creating a streamlined way for the entire university community to aid in the relief effort for the people in Haiti. Vogel also saw it as a way for Rowan not only to have a positive impact on our community and campus, but on the world as well.
In a Rowan Announcer sent on Tuesday, the SGA announced that they will work with SUP to create a benefit concert.
According to the SGA, any money raised by students for relief can be deposited into the “Rowan Relief” account and donated directly to the American Red Cross. Students can either work directly or indirectly with the SGA relief effort.
Any students interested in sharing ideas or helping with fundraising efforts can contact Vogel at SGACFO@students.rowan.edu.
“We can change lives, we can do something truly special, and if we all work together and strive for the same goal, we can do something memorable,” Vogel said.
