Check back later for The Whit’s live blogging of The Emmy’s.

7:59 – Hey everyone. Erica Zolinas here. The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards begin in just seconds, at 8 o’ clock on CBS! Anyone watching E! has seen the amazing, awful, and just plain shocking wardrobe choices of stars walking the red carpet. Hopefully we will be able to see them again during the awards.

8:01 – Neil Patrick Harris is singing a catchy tune for the opening and looks great in his white and black tux!

8:06 – Only six minutes into the show and already a Kanye West joke has been thrown in.  Did you really not expect it?

8:10 – The first Emmy for supporting actress in a comedy goes to Kristin Chenoweth of “Pushing Daises”!

8:20 – John Hodgman will be making commentary throughout the Emmy’s.  I love him already.

8:22 – Outstanding writing in a comedy series goes to Matt Hubbard for Dirty Rock Reunion!  Very short and sweet speech.

8:25 – Both of these women have gorgeous dresses as they’re presenting the award for Outstanding supporting actor of a comedy and the Emmy goes to Jon Cryer from “Two and a Half Men”!

8:28 – That was the best Mac or PC commercial I’ve seen in a long time!  I love them.

8:34 – Justin Timberlake is now on stage looking very sharp and intelligent while presenting the outstanding lead actress award. Tony Collette has won!

8:37 – Jon Cryer is now in the press room, being questioned by Neil Harras.  It was great

8:40 – Blake Lively and Leighton Meester both looked absolutely gorgeous!  I must say the red dress was my favorite though.

8:43 – Jeff Blitz has just won an Emmy for best comedy directing.  Another short but great speech.

8:46 – In case you missed the trailer for “Couples Retreat” you can watch it here.

8:52 – Rob Lowe has just presented the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy and the winner is Alec Baldwin!  He made me laugh the second he came up to the mike.

8:54 – Family Guy is one of my favorite shows.  I love that they put this skit on here! “Where’s my Emmy, man?! Where’s my Emmy?!”

8:55 – It is now time for the reality portion of the Emmy’s.

8:58 – That was an amazing dance routine, but I couldn’t help only staring at Karina Smirnoff’s outfit rather than the choreography at times.

9:00 – Jeff Probe has been awarded the Emmy for best host for a reality or reality competition.

9:09 – Best reality competition program Emmy goes to “The Amazing Race”, accepted by Bertram Van Munster.

9:16 – Outstanding supporting actress of a mini-series or movie goes to Shohreh Aghdashloo.  Ken Howard was awarded the Emmy for best supporting actor of a mini-series or movie.

9:20 – You can still vote for breakthrough performance at http://www.tv.com/breakthrough/ This includes Gossip Girl, True Blood, and the American Idol finale.

9:23 – The Emmy for  best actor in a mini-series or movie goes to Brendan Gleeson.  I always forget how much his accent amuses me.  That aside, he gave the same speech many other have given tonight.  “I’d like to thank, um, … also, um,… as you can imagine, um…”  Nonetheless, I still love him as an actor.

9:29 – The Emmy for outstanding writing for a mini-series or movie goes to Andrew Davies “Little Doris”.  However, he could not make it tonight.

9:30 – The Emmy for an outstanding director of a mini-series or movie goes to Dearbhla Walsh.  She seemed so happy and proud to gotten the award that I couldn’t help smiling.

9:31 – The Emmy’s have just been hijacked by Dr. Horrible!

9:36 – Emmy for lead actress of a mini-series or a movie goes to Jessica Lange.  She seemed completely speechless at first and then had a few problems getting out what she wanted to say.  However, she did seem to say everything she wanted to, even thanking her co-worker and fellow nominee Drew Barrymore.

9:44 – Emmy for best made for television film goes to “Grey Gardens”, accepted by Michael Susy!  He was shaking so bad he had to stop talking.  It was rather touching.

9:46 – “Little Dorritt” has won an Emmy of which Ann Heathcavich has accepted.

9:52 – Outstanding directing for a variety musical or comedy series goes to Bruce Towers from American Idol.

9:57 -”uh… uh… uh…  I haven’t had anything to say since George Bush left office,” John Stewart said as he accepted the Emmy for writing for a variety, music, or comedy series awarded to the writing team from “The Daily Show with John Stewart”.

10:06 – The Emmy for outstanding music and lyrics goes to Hugh Jackman’s opening number of the academy awards.  I loved them all, but this song really did blow my mind.

10:17 – It wouldn’t be the Rowan experience if there weren’t fire alarms at every award ceremony on television.  I believe I experienced the same thing wish the Oscars the other semester.   Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart took home another Emmy.  Now it is time for the drama of television!

10:21 – The Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series goes to Michael Emerson of “Lost”.  Side note, I absolutely love L L Cool J’s hat.

10:22 – Cherry Jones of “24″ received the Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series. “Wowza!”

10:26 – Perhaps the most touching time of any award show is when they show you the greatest names in Hollywood of the past on the big screen.  Sarah McLachlan’s “I will Remember You” was the perfect song for this.  The song itself makes me want to cry.  This was very emotional.

10:31 – Finally, fans of the original NCIS can watch their favorite show and the new spin off, NCIS: Los Angeles, Tuesday at 8!

10:35 – Outstanding directing for a drama series goes to Rod Holcom of “ER”.  However, he could not be there.

10:38 – Outstanding writing for a drama series goes to Mathew Weiner and Katie Gordon of “Madmen”. “When you get something like this it makes writing look fun, but it’s not,” said Mathew Weiner.  I couldn’t help but laugh at that, because sometimes it really isn’t… it can be really hard.

10:42 – Glenn Close of “damages” brings home a second Emmy for lead actress in a drama series.  She gave a speech that was perhaps one of the best ones given tonight.   She was very calm and together, but still emotional in a way that made you smile.

10:48 – Outstanding lead actor in a drama series goes to Ryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad”.  This is his second consecutive win.  “I’m thankful Glenn Close is a woman,” he said.  She could give him a run for his money I believe if they were in the same category.

10:56 – “Dirty Rock” has won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series!  Tina Fay looked great  when giving out thanks.

11:01 – The award for outstanding drama series goes to “Madmen”.  This is the second consecutive win for madmen.

11:05 – The Emmy’s are over for this year.  It was definitely an interesting show.  I can’t wait to see what this next year of television has to offer us.  If it is any better than what we saw presented at this year’s Emmy, it will be beyond spectacular.
