Crime log
September 11, 2009 — Landmark Parking Lot — 2:08 a.m.
When the crowd at Landmark became too large to handle, two Glassboro policemen were dispatched to the scene to assist in helping to control the ever-growing group.
When police arrived, they noticed that two men were engaged in a heated fistfight in the parking lot. When the officers stepped in to separate the men and place them under arrest, one of them continued to resist. Officers were forced to throw him on the ground to get him under control.
After placing both individuals under arrest, one of the officers realized that in the midst of the headed scuffle, his Nextel cell phone was missing from his duty belt.
Fixed with a dilemma on their hands, the other officer decided to call his partner’s cell phone only to shockingly discover that the person who answered the phone would not provide him with any information.
After calling Sprint Security GPS in an attempt to retrieve the GPS ping, the officer called his phone again at 6 p.m. that evening. This time he identified himself as a police officer and informed the person on the other end of the call that they were in possession of an officer’s phone and they needed to return it immediately.
The caller did not believe the officer.
So, the officer told the person to call Rowan Communications and ask for the sergeant on duty.
Only after the person called did he believe he was in possession of a police officer’s phone. However, he stated he did not feel like “driving all the way back to Rowan” and that he would drop it off at the Monroe Township Police headquarters.
He did later that day and the Monroe Sergeant who retrieved the phone said that the young man had received the phone from his friend who found the phone on the bar at the Landmark the night before.
