Michener Will Be Missed by The Whit
Rowan University has lost a dear and kind man in Dr. Timothy Michener. Many of us at The Whit knew him well.
We apologetically called him at home and after hours when deadlines loomed. We became his shadow during on-campus press conferences and hounded him for quotes. We looked to him to elaborate on his dutiful Owl Alerts, which any Rowan student worth their weight in gold and brown is more than familiar with.
Through it all, he was a pleasure to work with. Cub reporters were handled with patience and respect. Veterans, who had contacted him previously, had the added perk of receiving preemptive calls from him when something newsworthy happened on campus.
Always ready to offer a firm and sincere handshake, Michener seemed to support all student endeavors. He cared deeply about Rowan University students and especially lent advice and encouragement to the student volunteer Emergency Medical Squad.
“He was very proactive … he had a lot of advanced programs and he cared about all of the students,” said Caryn Campanelli, a law and justice/sociology dual major who serves as the captain of the EMS squad.
He will be sorely missed as an admirable member of Rowan University’s community.
