OPINION

ROWAN UNIVERSITY 3 FEBRUARY 2003

Dear Rowan University and Mr. Jim Spencer,

In regards to making a donation or gift to the Rowan University Foundation Annual Fund this year, I will pass up the opportunity and continue to do so due to recent actions taken by the University Administration towards the “Alpha Mu Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) Fraternity Chapter” on campus.

On 31 January 2003 the Assistant Vice-President for Residential and Campus Life, George Brelsford and Vice-President for Student Affairs Drew Calandrella denied the appeal of the suspension of the Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) Fraternity charter. These actions have left me no choice, but to withdraw my support to the University Foundation and put all of my support towards the “Alpha Mu DKE Fraternity Chapter at Glassboro State/Rowan University” that I’m an honorary Alumni.

I will no longer support the Rowan University Foundation until actions are taken by the Glassboro State/Rowan University Administration to reverse this gross injustice of suspending the DKE Fraternity Charter till 2005. So, therefore, please do not request a donation or gift until the “Alpha Mu DKE Fraternity Charter” is reinstated or alleviated from their current suspension.

I’m sorry that I have to support such an issue, but my ties as an honorary Alumni to the “Alpha Mu DKE Fraternity Chapter” are much more stronger than they are to Glassboro State/Rowan University. You have my permission to print this in “The Whit.” Very respectfully,
